I made this film, especially for the Sunshine Short Film festival which had a theme of ‘Carnevil’ which was a combination of ‘carnival/circus’ and ‘evil’. Films were to be inspired by the macabre and the writings of Edgar Allan Poe. It’s because of this that I specifically chose to write the film’s narration in rhyming couplets as a number of Poe’s poems were also written like this. I also enjoyed the creative opportunity that this genre allows with regards to lighting and cinematography.
